StudyOwl in collaboration with Amrita TBI conducted a two day Android Development Workshop in Amritapuri. Workshop started on the 23rd of May catering to the interested students in the field of Android.

Android already commands over 80 percent of the mobile OS market share globally. As the consumer technology landscape evolves over the next five years there are a number of reasons to believe that Android, and the Google stack more broadly, could take an even greater share and become the platform of choice. Hundreds of stylish and versatile devices provide an enticing platform up on which to create innovative applications for all android devices. Android developers are free to write applications that take full advantage of increasingly powerful mobile hardware and distribute them in an open market. As a result, developer interest in Android devices has exploded as handset sales have continued to grow.

Jaydeep Solanki, the trainer for the workshop, introduced the students to the basics of Android development on the first day. There onwards, the daily 8 hour session enabled the students to implement and develop fundamental, user-friendly apps. They were taught the varied layouts and designs used in app development. From a basic Hello World app to an intermediate multi-activity app, the essentials of Android was thought.

All in all, it was a fun, interesting and knowledgeable experience for all the enrolled students. "If this workshop happened before, I might have got placed in my dream company", said Sreedevi, an 8th semester student, after the workshop.
