As we know, Virtual Reality (VR) is dramatically changing the way the world consumes content online and offline. It could prove disastrous for future businesses if they overlook this magnificent feat of technology. Taking this fact into account, Amrita TBI (Amrita Technology Business Incubator) has organized a technology workshop on VR called ‘VR Dev Days’ in association with StudyOwl at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, between October 27th and 28th, 2018.

Amrita TBI is a non-profit incubator supported by Govt. of India and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham which funds, mentors and nurtures ideas, startups and entrepreneurs. StudyOwl is a startup incubated at Amrita TBI, which builds a more career-oriented training program with shorter duration based on the nuts and bolts of the job stream, to help engineering students.

VR DEV DAYS are community-led global events focused on Virtual, Augmented Reality (AR) and diversified content. Showcasing the latest trends in VR/AR, developer products and platforms, these events seek to inspire creativity and innovation among technology students and encourage them to quickly develop high-quality VR apps.

The event at Amritapuri was one of the first of its kind to bring together students, entrepreneurs and top professionals in the field. Over 200 students from various colleges in Kerala took part in this event and they built their own VR games in a hands-on workshop on unity, which was organized as part of this event.

After the mega event, the participating students were given access to an online VR course and 6 months of mentorship to take their career forward in VR development. In addition, the shortlisted students were awarded mentorship and a chance to present their projects at ‘Global VR Dev Days’ Singapore 2019 edition.
