Amrita Accelerator

Amrita Accelerator is a 100 day fast paced program with the mix of best practices to help early stage start-ups evolve into successful ventures. The startups can raise funding from the invited external investors and Amrita TBI on the Demo Day. The total seed investment from Amrita TBI for the Top-2 startups is $75,000 USD.The Accelerator program is supported under the National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations (NIDHI) initiative by NSTEDB, DST, Government of India.

Amrita Accelerator program is designed to be a great launchpad for the idea/prototype/product. The program brings in both national mentors and international mentors from Silicon Valley with varied experience across multiple domains and sectors. They have been executives at Fortune 500 companies, built startups and products with local and global appeal. The program allows idea validation, iteration, building of customer development models, enhancing the business models and building a go-to-market strategy. In the end, the startup should be fundable-ready by Demo-Day. The startups can raise funding from the invited external investors and Amrita TBI on the Demo Day. The total seed investment from Amrita TBI for the Top-2 startups is $75,000 USD.

Procedure

Applications will be accepted from November 1, 2016.The last date for submission of applications is January 7th. All applications will be received through the Amrita TBI PitchFest portal. When you apply for Amrita TBI PitchFest, you will be considered for both Amrita TBI PitchFest and Amrita Accelerator program. Participants are requested to complete a simple online form that explains the problem they are trying to solve, the uniqueness of their solution, value proposition, competitive advantage etc. Additional materials to support the case are welcome.
Applications will be reviewed in the month of January. Applicants will be contacted if there are any questions related to their applications.
The shortlisted startups will be invited to pitch to an elite panel of investors and C-level executives at Amrita TBI, Bangalore.The Top-10 startups will be selected for the Accelerator program, These Top-10 startups will be also incubated by Amrita TBI.
The Accelerator program is a 100-day fast paced program that will focus on customer development, go-to-market strategy and make the startup fundable-ready by Demo Day. All teams will be directly mentored by world class mentors, external partners and the Amrita TBI team.
Support provided during the program:

All Top-10 startups will be pitching in front of elite investor panel and C-Level executives for possible investment. The Top-2 startups will receive direct investment from Amrita TBI. The total investment outlay from Amrita TBI for the Top-2 startups is up to $75,000 USD.

Structured mentorship will be provided to all teams through a diverse set of technical and business mentors from India and Silicon Valley, USA. Intensive sessions and one-on-one metorship will be provided throughout the program. Technical mentorship will be provided in the areas of web technologies, mobile, software development, IoT, hardware, engineering architecture, product development etc. In business mentorship, startups will be guided on problem definition, customer discovery, strategy, customer development, unit economics, marketing, revenue models, financial forecasts etc.

Srihari Kumar

Srihari has been Co-Founder of ZenIO and early employee of a string of successful Silicon Valley startups, including VXtreme (acquired by Microsoft), Yodlee, InMage Systems, and RingCube (acquired by Citrix). Prior to ZenIQ, he served as Chief Product Officer and Executive Director of Captora Inc. Mr. Kumar is a proven product and business leader with a series of successful exits and award-winning products to his credit.

Snehal Shetty

Snehal has worked as the first employee at a Silicon Valley startup which later on went to receive $21 million in VC funding. He has 20 years of technical and management experience and his expertise spans over diverse areas such as engineering architecture, product development, product management, M&A and vendor domains. Mr. Snehal has mentored over 100 startups during his 4 year tenure as Vice President at Amrita TBI.

Atul Tiwari

Atul being an entrepreneur himself, hails from the new generation of young entrepreneurs. He has 5+ years of experience in Mining and Oil industry and has few young startups running under his supervision. An early employee of Smartplay – Energy Division, acquired by Aricent for $200M; it was his entrepreneurial genes which led him to start his O&G Consulting Firm. He has consulted some of the top and prestigious Oil companies (Shell, Schlumberger, Santos, etc).

The Accelerator program is supported under the National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations (NIDHI) initiative by NSTEDB, DST, Government of India.
Amrita TBI is a non-profit incubator supported by Govt. of India and Amrita University that funds, mentors and nurtures ideas, startups and entrepreneurs.

Amrita TBI has incubated 54 startups, mentored 200+ startup ideas and has zero loss from its investments.

Amrita TBI is a mentor driven start-up incubator which acts as a launch pad for entrepreneurs to make a big leap from an idea to commercial viability. Amrita TBI supports early-stage technology firms by providing funding, networking opportunities, and technical and business expertise.
Amrita TBI will run two batches of the Accelerator program per year with 8-10 startups per batch.
Amrita Accelerator program is designed to be a great Launchpad for your idea/prototype/product. The program allows you to validate your idea, iterate as needed, build a customer development model, enhance your business models, build a go-to-market strategy. In the end, the startup should be fundable-ready by Demo-Day. The startups can raise funding from the invited external investors and Amrita TBI on the Demo Day. The total seed investment from Amrita TBI for the Top-2 startups is $75,000 USD.
Amrita Accelerator program will run from the Amrita TBI incubation center in Kollam, Kerala. During the program, the startups will be encouraged to visit other locations as needed (in a structured manner) to assess their customer requirements, build customer leads/sales etc. The startups can also operate from the Amrita TBI incubation center in Bangalore during the planned visits.
All startups that are part of the Amrita Accelerator program can potentially raise funding during the program and Demo Day from invited investors and Amrita TBI. Though the quantum of funds from interested investors could vary based on the profile of the startups, Amrita TBI will provide a total investment outlay of $75,000 USD for the Top-2 startups after required due-diligence is completed.While we can’t guarantee any investment for your company at the end of the accelerator program, we will seek to understand your funding requirements and get you in front of potential investors on Demo Day.

We accept startups across all stages of development- from idea stage through the initial few customers. We have structured the program in such a way that startups irrespective of the stage will greatly benefit from the program. Though there are a few common sessions & workshops for all startups, each specific startup will be associated to a specific mentor and will receive individual mentorship during the program. This mentor will assess the progress you have made and suggest improvements and changes (if needed) to gain better market traction.
No, your Intellectual property is safe and it belongs to you. We have so far incubated 54 startups and worked with over 200 startup ideas with varying levels of IP.
Amrita TBI runs both the Amrita TBI PitchFest and the Amrita Accelerator programs. For the first batch of the Amrita Accelerator program, we are accepting applications through the Amrita TBI PitchFest portal.
Startups applying through the Amrita TBI PitchFest portal, will be assessed for both Amrita TBI PitchFest and Amrita Accelerator programs.
